Unexpected Blessings and Supplications

We had a busy day in our assembly. Today we briefly honored our men for the fatherly roles they play in the lives of those at Lake Orion. (There are a lot of genetically unrelated father and grandfather figures in the church. That is a great blessing.) At the end of service, we were on tap to honor our university and professional school graduates.

What through me for a loop, though, was when the elders unexpected walked to the front of the auditorium before Garth stood to preach. Over the next several minutes, our shepherds invited people to join them in gathering around the three of us in more formal ministry roles and our spouses to offer up prayers on our behalf. One of the elders prayed for each of our ministry couples, while many people gathered around us and laid their hands on us.

I did not know to expect it, and I was broken up in side by the reaffirming love of the shepherds to plan and publicly display their love and support for us in front of the gathered servants of God at LOCC. I am thankful for these men and their families. We may have differences of opinion on a lot of things, but they really do love this church and long for what is best for her. Today, they showered us with unexpected blessings and supplications. It will be a long time before I forget it.
