It has been a long morning already, and it will prove to be a long day. I have been feverishly working on things since 4:00. It was actually quite nice. It was like the old days when I could wake up early and spend time reading, studying, and praying. I have been able to do a lot of that already this morning. (Of course, instead of spending time with some of my old dead friends, writers of the spiritual classics, I spent time with Jack Reese's book The Body Broken.) It will be a long day because I have two meetings this afternoon and then small group tonight. It will basically be a non-stoproller coaster of fun!
But, the day has started off well. I just made it up to the church to spend some more time in prayer and preparation. Before hitting the streets, I was been able to put in my Benedictine labor with God, shoveling around 2.5 inches of snow off of the driveway. Then I hit the crystal streets of north Oakland County alone. It was beautiful to watch the snow gracefully fall to the earth below, glistening in the headlights. It is that beautful, light, large crystal snow. Not the heavy, wet varietal that is the bane of every snow shovel's existence. It has been a great way to start my morning. I only pray that all continues to be well. As my old friend Julian of Norwich wrote, "All is well, all shall be well, all manner of things is well."
May all be well with you this day...
