It's been far too long. I have been struggling to find the words to describe the last two and a half weeks in our lives. I wanted something profound and powereful, something insightful and wise to writer, but the words have been painfully allusive.
Even today, I still don't have words to describe the overwhelming swell of emotions that broke into our world at 16:25 on September 22. So, trapped in the middle of excitement, joy, terror, humility, and awe, I simply submit these pics to you, and leave the words to poets, for right now I can find none.

What at miracle!
(that someone would reproduce with you....)
Melaina Joelle is an extraordinary little girl. I can't wait 'til B & K, B & E & B, and L get to play together. (Brett's too cool and old to play with babies, so let's him be the role model....)
houston and i send our congratulations! what a beautiful baby girl!
hope you guys are well.
She's beautiful. I have felt your loss of words three times now, all with girls, and it just gets better.
Congratulations! I understand the loss for words, as well. As a songwriter, I have found it easy to write verse for others' births, but impossible to write one fully explaining the emotion, joy, and responsibility felt when my own daughter was born. It's been ten years now, and it still is impossible.
I hope you will always feel such awe that you feel inadequate, unequal to the task. That's the only way you'll do the thing right.
(And I have all the faith in the world that you'll do it right.)
Eric,
You have a beautiful family! Congratulations on the birth of Melaina.
It sounds like you are doing well. Hopefully our families can catch up some time soon.
God bless,
Jim Miller
