From Rob Bell

As I've been working today, I've been listening to a couple of sermons by Rob Bell, pastor at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids. These are a few quotes I really liked from the first two of his lessons in the series "Jesus Wants to Save Christians."

I think the reason Christians bash everything else is because they've lost faith in their own story. And so their own story isn't compelling enough, and all you're left with is to bash everybody else.

Jesus has been saving Christians from having to have all of the answers.... We are invited to demonstrate and announce [not give all the answers], and evidently God thinks that is enough to save the world.

First and foremost, following Jesus involves and awareness of the historical tradition we are a part of, so that's why generally when we gather we center things around the Scriptures, because we want to, first and foremost, as the question 'What's the story that's unfolding here?', so that we can then ask the question, equally as important, 'What does it mean for us to take part in it?'
