Happy 50th Birthday!!!
It's no big secret that I love books. In fact, at an addiction seminar on Tuesday I had to do some serious introspection on my little habit. I decided I'm not an addict,... but then there was all that talk of denial!!!
Along with deep theology, dense philosophy, and apophatic mysticism, I love children's books. I always have. N and I used to go to Barnes and sit in the children's section reading books and watching families sharing reading time together. It was a beautiful thing. Now, I read simple, little books to MJ, while she stares at the colorful pictures and gums the thick chip board pages. Reading to her is one of the highlights of my days.
One of my favorite children's authors is much loved Theodor Geisel. Today his feisty black cat in the peppermint hat is having a birthday, fifty at that.
So, happy birthday, Cat in the Hat! Thanks for the joy and fun you and all of the siblings born in Dr. Seuss' mind have given children and families over the past fifty years!
