The First Annum

One year ago on Saturday the marriage was made official. After a long and exhausting season of preparation, premarital counseling, and planning to move in together, we arrived at our house and began to unload Penny the Penske. This Saturday, as the foliage of the large maple in our front yard nears full scarlet, we remembered pulling into Michigan to begin working with the Lake Orion church.

This year has been, to say the least, a year of learning. We have gone through far more than I could have asked or imagined for our first year in full time ministry. Much has been mentioned throughout various treads of this blog. Others are still too sensitive and volatile to be named or discussed here.

Yet through it all, we are now in a place of hope. We are starting to see signs of life, encouraging moves by the community of faith to embrace the call of faith and to allow the kingdom of God to break into the world around us. It is a good time. The first year has, for the most part, been a good one. We have learned a lot about the church. The church has learned some about us. Yet, there are many journeys to travel ahead, many things yet to be revealed.

May God, through the gift of the Spirit of grace, continue to transform us together into the likeness of God...

Eric--

I continue to pray for you guys. I have missed both of you so much. Congratulations on the anniversary! I hope it has been a special time of reflecting on what God has done in you and through you. I have no doubt that He is continuing to use you in very special ways to bless and invest in the spiritual family there. Love you guys a lot...
